Also +1 for soldering but I guess you could pick up a small plug & socket and fit it up in a dry area like under the gunnel, cut the cable & run it through the transom and fit the plug & socket.
Farnell have lots of little ones just need to know the number of wires & current I guess. Scottar?

FWIW I was running short of length so to get some back I drilled the transom below the water line & used a clamshell, no big deal in my mind.

I extended my lowrance transducer cable by about 5 meters, I used tinned marine grade cable and soldered the joins then heat shrunk then, I also added a DPDT c off switch that allows me to use 2 sounders off one transducer ( but only one at a time) I have a 5" lowrance sounder on the flybridge and a 4" lowrance gps / sounder combo in the main cabin, I use the combo in the cabin for depth and anchor drift while anchored up, this setup has worked well for me for a few years

That will work Fed but the issue with a lot of those plugs is they are simply fiddley to solder up and unless the person on the end of the iron is used to doing this sort of work there is a pretty good chance it will turn to custard. I have seen many apprentices, myself included, make an absolute meal of soldering plugs on. If Kero does want to go this way, almost any plug would be ok as the sounder in question is not a high powered unit. Not sure on the number of wires in a downscan type transducer - was out of the game just prior to these turning up.

Soldering small connections correctly isn't a problem...!
    Cheers,
    Leigh (Kero).
