    Day fishing on nerang river?

    Hey guys! First time posting
myself and one of my friends are going fishing next Thursday on the Gold Coast, I've heard the nerang river at the council chambers is good at night, but what about during the day? Any other suggestions for a nearby place to day fish from Land? Also I want to pump yabbies, where is a good spot to do that? Thanks in advance

We have always struggled in the Nerang during the day. It really seems like a different river at times. The best spots as far as the council chambers are concerned are on the opposite side of the river to the park where the public access is. The park side next to the chambers is all rock wall. You do see a few people fishing there but due to the current continually pulling your gear into the wall, tackle losses could be high. There is a small public pontoon around the other side of the park that we have caught a few bream off but nothing outstanding. I would be trying a few areas down in the Broadwater itself. Look for little points that current flows across that create a bit of a back eddy that fish will sit in and pick off the food as it comes to them. Banks adjacent to creek mouths or canal entrances are always worth a look too - especially on an outgoing tide. There are yabbies on the bank on the mainland side between the swimming pools and the Sundale bridge ( i have caught a few good fish through this area as well) but it is hard going for not a lot of reward. If you have access to a surf ski or similar the banks opposite the mouth of Lodders Creek to the north are where we usually pump and are a much better proposition. Other than that I usually get bait in Brisbane at Point Halloran prior to driving down
