    Tony

Ring jo from deep drop commercial and buy a few of his flame snapper/pearlies rigs and cut them in half. They come as a 6 hook rig but easier to handle as a 3 hook rig. There about $100 each so once cut in half they only cost $50each.
To date I havnt broke or lost one and I've done about 8 trips so defiantly worth it compared to others I've tried.

Dont waste your money on the solas ones... They are shit and constantly break especially with double hook ups.

Jason has gone and bought all the gear and copied one of jo's rigs. Give him a bell if your still keen on making them.

    cheers

Hi Keith, What size sounder do you need I was thinking of looking out there with my mate in his 6m Noosa Cat as we fish up to 26-03-000 in 80m se of DI for reds, snapper, pearlies and Tuskes and around the mud for pearlies all the time, he has just bought epock no 5 reel and we were thinking of chasing a few Bar cod or flamies,,He has a 587 with 600w in 50/200kw transducer, is that good enough or do you need a 1kw or 2 or 3kw, thanks Nathan

    Hey Nathan,

mate im no expert but my mate had the same set up as that one and he could see shows in 250mtrs easy enough but struggled to distinguish individual fish. If your looking for barries that's all you need. They seem to be everywhere in that depth. So far every location we have fished we seem to always pull a few bar cod. 200-250mtrs seems to be on the money for them and there's still pearlies, flames and snapper out there too.

Mate I find my Miya Epoch command 9's are excellent. I have had a couple of 37kg rods made and fitted to bent butts (from mark alderson). The combo is awesome. I've pull triple headers and baged on flame snapper with this combo in a couple of hours. They can handle the load and easily fished.

Not sure about the epoch 5 but I'm sure they will be good as long as they are matched to a solid rod.

i also have a couple of Megatwins that are also really good for the 100mtr - 275mtr depths. I've fitted them to an electrafish rod built by mark. Theses are softer rods and excellent in the 100mtr grounds (lethal!!)These reels wind really quick and still have the balls to pull up a double header of bar cod to 20+kgs a piece. Soul fish uses the same set up and catches everything from 100mtrs to 300 and has no problems at all. These reels have a shut of feature to protect the reel if they get hot. I've only seen them shut down twice with both times on solid fish (once it was horse and the other time was myself). Moejoes also has purchased the same set up but mainly fishes the 100mtr grounds and doesn't ventures deeper. Although he did catch a 13kg red one night in 50mtrs because the big fella was a little tired so he used his electric. Was good to watch!!

Best bet is to just get out there and give what ever rod, reel combo a go. You'll soon find out if it's up to the task. I just spent 8k on electric winches from Jo at deep drop commercial so I can fish the deeper waters over winter this year. Hope they work!!

Hi Keith, Thanks for that, like you said we will give it a go nothing like time on the water that soon tells you weather your gear is good enough, Nathan
