As the topic suggests I'm trying to get a little more useful information from the sidescan on my sounder. Normal sounder runs with a TM260 and is great can't fault that side of things at all.

However every time I go to side scan I play for around 5 mins and turn it off again as it tells me nothing. I have changed the angle of the transducer and played with every setting I can find but at best I can see the bottom in under 5m of water but the return is so weak it's near impossible to get any detail from it.

After seeing some side scan units read the water column out wide while trolling etc I'm thinking it can perform much better however not sure how to achieve it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers
