Single strand or multi strand wire. Pro's, con's & preferences

    Hi all,
I use some of both for traces but need to top up the supply soon, so just like to hear opinion's from other people. Mainly used for trolling around the reefs in NQ.

you don't see all that much single strand around these days (well I don't) single strand is stiff and can kink quite easily, multi strand is flexible, and a far better option (in my opinion)

Depends whether you have crimpers, crimps etc. If not single strand is cheap, easy to tie and effective.

I have some single for rigs I make up but for trolling I just buy multi strand already made up.

Are the multi ones made up with a swivel or do you have to use a snap?

I use multi strand in both 1X7 and 7X7 for permanently rigged lures but use single strand for mu live and dead bait trolling rigs. Multi strand is more flexible and kink resistant but the single strand is much harder for the fish to see.

Single for me. Cheap, finer so fish are less spooked and don't need to worry about running low on crimps.
Multi is more flexible but I have had macks bite through multi before so wont use it anymore.

More and more these days I am tying lures straight to a mono leader. Rarely loose lures to mack who attack the tail and the strike rate is much higher. Then again I use $15 lazer pros- I might have reservations if I spent $40 on a YoZuri without wire insurance.

im the same i will hardly ever run wire when trolling and i think ive only lost 1 or 2 lures ever.. but single strand is easiest to use i think and is much much thinnner
dont knock on deaths door... ring the doorbell and run... death hates that!!
