    new gauges. old engine

    just picked up a 1994 johnson 175hp.
anyone ever put new guages "tacho/trim/oil" on an older engine
i plan to keep Speed via gps... fuel from tank sendor, volts.. well thats easy

on that note. anyone replaced a control box with a newer after market teleflex etc?

I'm not sure what you're really asking but you need to match the resistance values.
Go to shop.evinrude.com and in the top drop down menu select OB Accessories and then your year model.
Copy & Google the BRP part numbers that interest you and you will probably finish up at ebay.
As for the controller I'd stick with genuine OMC.
Could be worth checking wreckers for all the bits & pieces.
I have resistance values if it helps.

we need to know what you mean by "new" gauges, tacho and so on will be pretty simple, as long as they are not some exotic brand, the control box matters little really, it simply moves the cables back and forth, you may have to buy a separate key switch and trim switch and stuff like that, but it's all pretty simple.
