    Cool Hey Squid Lips!

On Wednesday, with the weather forecast being for light winds in the morning I decided to do a small offshore run. Now being in a small boat this was never going to be far, so my we headed of to the inner gneerings off Mooloolaba.
Not much was showing on the sounder, but there were patches of life near the bottom, so we tried a couple of plastics bounced off the bottom. First time I brought mine back to the boat , squid (good size) were everywhere following it up. My brother asked me where my squid jigs were, and unfortunately the answer was "on the workbench back home".
We tried a few smaller hooks on small plastics, but no hook-ups. What else can be used for squid if no jigs are available?
Anyway after boating a few small cod the Northerlies which were forecast for the afternoon turned up, so we headed back into the Mooloolah river where after some tooling around we found an absolute hot spot for Bream and Moses Perch, with a few of the Moses Perch being very legal in size. To bad this is the offshore section, otherwise I would give you more details

    Cheers

    Mick

only other possible way to land them is to get them to hold on to a bait, bring them SLOWLY to the boat and net them from behind. Gotta be quick though...
