Re: close call last night ....

Lived in Darwin many years ago and 2 work mates had a collision at night in the harbour.
Work mates were sober and had lights other boat had 2 occupants who had been to xmas party and were going home across the harbour and very intoxicated and had no lights. One of the 2 bloke in other boat looked like he would lose an arm that was smashed up in accident as it was hanging over the edge at point of impact. They were that pi##ed they could not comprehend the severity of the damage to the arm. Not sure what eventuated but goes to show you have to be aware to the fact not all skippers are going to be alert or do the right thing. From what I have seen on many waterways at least 50% of boaters don't even know which side to pass another boat and this is one of my pet hates.
PS - I have a white beard but thankfully don't own a fibreglass or half cab boat.

Ahh good old Darwin. I remember boating up there as a 12 year old, getting the old man to drop us at the ramp so we could take the 5m half cabin out the harbour.

Even back then as a 12yo and no requirement for a license, still had more common sense than half the drop kicks these days.
