    Personal Best (and first!) Jack.

Hi all - just wanted to thank lbger for a great fish last week. As promised, he met up with me while I was holidaying on the Gold Coast for a session on the Jacks and Giant Herring. Whilst the GH's proved unstoppable, he did manage to put me onto a lovely Jack! True Ausfish camaraderie at its best.
    Thanks again, Nathan!

And when it doesn't....I took Andrew (gecko) out last Friday night, didn't get any jacks but good catching up and sharing some jack knowledge. Scoped out a new spot up the Nerang, the plus is just being out on the water and good company.

Thanks guys. Yeah...pretty chuffed about the Jack. Would have been great to land a Giant Herring, but the only ones hooked were unstoppable on 4kg, and took 200m before wrapping me up in timber further down stream! Still - fun while it lasted, and puts Vic fish to shame!
And at the same location - returning 35cm+ bream to the water, as they were interfering with the livies meant for Jacks and GH's - bream that down here would be worthy of photos and bragging!
Then onto the surf - 100m from the apartment where I was staying, hooking whiting and dart so enthusiastic, that a bait was lucky to last longer than 30 seconds before being scoffed! High tide, low tide, and anywhere in between - didn't matter.
I was however, torn between fighting fish and checking out the bikini-clad lovelies, (models - every last one of 'em!), parading past me up and down the beach! Think I missed a few bites - but...somehow, it didn't seem so bad!

Nice colors in that jack, its so gold I thought it was fingermark! Awesome first jack!

Me and Wayno are out for revenge again........stay tuned.

Ive also been taken out by some ausfishers and Ive also guided a few others onto jacks. Alway happy to share info with genuine guys who are happy to put in the hours and enjoy the journey, not the result. Im not silly enough to post everything online.

Its great to see the spirit in some guys who help each other like lbger did.
Fishing- It's only an addiction if you're trying to quit.

Ha ha - that'll be easy then, as I'm back in Melbourne for another 6 months or so, and we don't have too many Jacks down here!
And yeah, you're right, my hat's off to lbger for the trip, and to other Ausfishers on the forums who've helped out me, and many others from time to time. And whilst it's great to bask in the glory of a good Jack...I still can't help but think of the size of the giant herrings that we didn't stop on the day!
    Ah well...there's always next year!

Well done to all involved. That is a great Jack. Gunna have a crack at them this summer. Never got a legal one yet.

Interestingly, on a return trip to the same waterway, I flogged the water with S/P's to no avail, but in hindsight, I now realize that I was using only jerkbait style plastics. I can't help but wonder if a shad-styled plastic, more resembling a small mullet would have been more effective. 2 and 3-inch live mullet were what we were using the first time around... Matching the hatch, and all that?
