    Moreton bay Spanish World Record

    Gday
I was going through an old fishing book that belonged to my granddad and found this pic of a
78lb spaniad caught on 20lb line back in 1970 in moreton bay.

That is a pig, mate. I wonder what he used for trace, and bait. I dream about boating one that big up north on 50lb, let alone 20, and in Moreton Bay!

Things have degenerated over the years regarding fishing attire. I feel a hell of a lot more comfortable fishing in boardies and a t shirt though.
Catching a fish in a suit and tie would be rather bothersome wouldn't you say chaps. Jim. p.s what a cracker.

That fish was caught at Flinders Reef on a slow trolled large tailor as bait. There were a number of fish that size caught at Flinders and Western Rocks in the '70s. My best was 68lb.
