from what i read, the foot unit is way to go, only got 2 hands.
I think the 55 lb or 70 lb with 54 inch shaft , foot control is best?
Can the foot control unit do all the things the I Pilot remote can do?

I-pilot can track a line exactly, co-pilot, Autopilot and foot pedal control can't.
I-pilot has spotlock, something none of the others has.
I have no dramas with the Autopilot and foot control combo, but you are locked to staying near the pedal.
Hand controls are annoying when both hands are busy, but the hand controls do have benefits of being more mobile.
Get the longest shaft 55lb you can. My 48" shaft 55 on my 4.1 tinny breaks out when the seas are a bit lumpy off redcliffe.
Personally I would opt for a I-pilot with a foot pedal as well.
Depends on the money for me though.

Was talking to a mate who has just fitted a new fly fishing skiff out. He ended up going with the new Motorguide unit that has GPS input. Apparently (can't confirm) the "spotlock" on the motorguide you can adjust incrementally if you only want to move a bit in any direction. Not sure whether Minn Kota offers this option with the new remote but something to look into. I had the Minn Kota 55 Terrova on my last tinnie and it was brilliant. I used the autopilot feature extensively and the spotlock is great too. Once I got used to the remote, I found it a lot more functional than the footpedal with the advantage of if I did have a hot fish hooked up, I could travel anywhere around the boat and still retain control.
