Lowrance wireless questions

I was thinking of getting a HDS 7m to link up to my 7 touch to share the two together. But then I saw you can get a wireless WiFi module and share the info from a tablet like an IPad. Anyone had any experience with this and how it works compared to the Ethernet option? Can the iPad show different screens such as the chart while the HDS shows structure scan etc.
if you already have a tablet it seems like a cheap option.

The wife option is a groovy one. As a tool to help you increase screen size or control. View it all at a remote location....However it doesn't allow for split screening. That would be like lowrance shooting themselves in the foot .making it so you didn't have to buy 2 of their products :p....The wifi on mirrors the screen

So it will only show what the HDS shows at the same time? Seems pointless in a small boat.
