    Bustard Heads Advise

    Hi Guys,
We are heading to bustard head in 5 weeks. Last year we fished around inner, middle and outer rocks. Is there any reef further out? Would like to try and catch a few reefys this time around. Any starter marks would be great.
    Thanks
    Brad

What size boat do you have? Lots of reef out there if you can get there.
Remember to always log on before heading offshore.

    Are you camping up there?
There are a few marks that you would be able to get to on a good day. Places like the inner and outer wides which are about 30km from Bustard Head. Also the Cetacea wreck that is about 22km from there.
I don't have any that are close to Bustard but if you head on a bearing of between 50 and 70 degrees out from outer rock you should be able to find something.

Brad, depends on how far you want to travel looking for the reefies ?

Let's start with the trolling at Outter Rock..... try trolling a various speeds depending on what your towing behind the boat...ie:- lures, dead baits or live baits... livies work best.

I travel in a clockwise direction and in fact come within a casting distance of the rock on the southern side as we have found our spanish in shallow water, but they do get caught well away from the structure as well. be carefull on the west side of outter rock due to very shallow ground, you'll see it.

I have caught reef species both south and north of the rocks and also in a North East direction from Outter Rock. Just use you sounder to find the fish and structure.

There are some more productive reefs some 20k's away and here are some starter marks, but keep an eye on your sounder as you travel that way for small rises in bottom, structure etc etc.... also look for the " hard bottom " as fish will hold near the bottom in these areas.

The entrance to Pancake creek holds good structure and reef and I have boated plenty of Trout and Cod from this area, in fact again, about a casting distance from the rocky headland.

These marks are east of Middle creek about 19.6k's

    S24 01.224 ................E151 58.050
    S24 01.235 ................E151 58.062
    S24 01.234............. E151 58.035
    S24 01.132 ...............E151 57.375
    S24 01.554 ...............E151 57.525
    S24 01.320 ...............E151 58.529
    S24 01.607 .................E151 57.573

These are a little further away at about 22k's ENE of Outter Rock. and are really starter marks, you need to find the fish.

    S23 54.564 ............E151 58.947
    S23 54.520.............. E151 58.926
    S23 54.330.............. E151 59.011
    S23 54.390.................. E151 59.043

This one is a reef north of Pancake Creek entrance, but I only get good good fish at night from it, but plenty of structure about and a bit of a nursery during daylight hours.

    S23 57.975........ E151 43.284
    S23 57.974.......... E151 43.267
    S23 57.960 .............E151 43.292

    Good luck up there.

    cheers LP
