Re: Hydraulic or push/pull cable steering

was skiing with some friends when they went for a blat and their cable let go at over 60mph. I think they knew about it pretty quickly - instant full lock at 60mph

I was running across the Bay at 30 MPH and let go of the wheel to roll a smoke - the boat kept going straight with full feedback steering.

If the prop torque is being neutralised by correct trimming and tab position or the steering is heavy enough it won't move. If the steering is light and there is torque being applied it wouldn't be recommended practise. With the cable on my old tinnie, even at idle, it would eventually end up at full lock when the cable was new.

I agree that Hydrive quality seems to be that bit better and worth the spend if you're going hydraulic.
