Re: Big USA Centre Consoles anyone got one if so whats the verdict
I've got a 6 meter Trophy centre console which I repowered with an etec 150. Great boat to fish out of but too fat across the bow and lacks sufficient V for our short chop. Mate has a 21 seafox. Bit skinnier up front and really nice ride. His has a 175 suzi on the back and IMO a far superior boat all round (and a fair few more $$). My mates boat has trim tabs, I am about to fit tabs to see if I can improve performance/ride.

I like Contender best but you should look a bit deeper before deciding
there is some pretty good advice up above and you should check out some US boating sites too
my experiences have proven that narrow is better for travel without doubt given the same deadrise and add to that narrow chines or reverse chines, that is as good as you get ride wise
even better is a boat with those attributes and an aft helm
and never be concerned about lack of fishing space in a rear helm boat because it is easily solved with anchor point position when anchored or using a sea anchor when drifting
I can fish 5 guys down one side with stacks of room between them, you can't do that across the stern with any boat 30ft or under
amount of room is relative to how you use it
downside of a rear helm is wet, the further back you go the wetter you get
