Suzuki Trim/Tilt Adjustment

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of fine-tuning my 175 Zuke set-up on the back of the trailcraft.

I want to be able to set the maximum height that the motor can be tilted up but I can't figure out how.

Currently, if the motor is tilted too high, the hydraulic steering ram will contact the transom and potentially damage it.

Can anyone explain how a maximum height can be set? Is there a mechanical or electronic adjustment or a combination of both?

I have played with the black plastic ring mechanism on the front of the motor but can't figure out how it works or what it should do.

Fingers crossed someone can point me in the right direction!

Joffo the adjustable plastic ring that sits on your clamp bracket shaft acts against a limit switch which is next to or just above. If you look at this plastic ring you will see that it will have a high point - this the point that makes contact with the switch.

You might find that this plastic ring has moved (slid) away from the switch on the shaft - push it back so can make contact with limit switch, from memory moving adjustable plastic ring anti clockwise should give you less motor trim.

I found it easier to determine the operation by tilting as high as you can easier to visualise switch and adjusting mechanism.

Thanks MoffatC. I have had another look and can now see how it is supposed to work. I have found a break in the blue wires coming from behind the switch. Once i fix that hopefully I will be able to set the tilt limit properly.

you can set the upper limit of tilt through a few combinations on the throttle and trim switch? you want to stop it from going so high it hits the transom yeh? I've seen the procedure for it in the manual for my 90 suzuki, I assume the procedure would be the same, depending on age I guess. let me know and i'll put it up or pm if you're interested. cheers

ok so this is straight from the manual

to cancel the current limit setting
1. turn key to on
2. pull out the emergency stop switch lock plate (lanyard)
3. make sure handle is in neutral
4. using throttle only move warm up lever upwards until caution buzzer sounds once
5. press up on the trim/tilt switch for 3 secs and the buzzer will sound twice indicating current position is cancelled
6. return throttle to closed position

setting the upper limit

1. press up on the trim/tilt switch so optimum tilt position is reached
2. turn key to on
3. pull out switch lock plate again
4. make sure remote handle is in neutral
5. using throttle only move upwards until buizzer sounds once
6. press up on the trim/tilt switch 3 times in 3 secs, buzzer will sound once to indicate its accepted
7. return throttle to closed position. test it a few times to check its right

there you go, I did it on my 90 as well

Thanks for the info Goat Boy. I gave it a try this morning but couldnt get past step 4. I cant make the buzzer sound at all so Im guessing the limit cant be set this way on my particular model (150/175).
