    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

I forgot my camera on the weekend otherwise I would have taken some photos of the garmin 751 with tm150 and the furuno 587 with lkw tranny side by side in 130m of water.

I was surprised how much more definition there was with the garmin.

I'm even thinking about selling the furuno now and getting another garmin.

i was having a hell of a time removing the trany as they installed it in the transome about 2 inches thick tried for nearly a hour but the sika was hard as a rock like it had a hardener mixed in with it ended up puting to much presure on the cable it it now looks like this possible very expensive mistake

    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

So installed the new transducer thanks moose. Worked for all of 7 trips it gives temp but will not have any sonar capabilities at all clear blank screen on chirp and on alternate frequency no signal at all will not even scroll.
My question is what would cause the failure of sonar or what sort of interference could cause this I really need help as this is my second tm150 transducer .
i have a marine electrician coming tomorrow to make sure all my wiring is perfect please help with possible solutions

thanks for any reply's. Cheers scott

    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

interesting. what did the marine elec say?
this new Xducer. has it ever shown you anything?

    the whole usual things really
    update software
    system restore
    -failing that, warranty.
    i feel embarrassed.

    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

Yeah moose, it did work straight after I installed it - see thread on Southern peel report. When we went to 1770 it started playing up (approx 3 weeks apart), had gain on full ball in 70m, found we were having trouble holding bottom, two trips later could read bottom on way out, collected live bait still worked fine, then by the time I started fishing, that's the screen I got. Getting the boat serviced on Thursday and a garmin rep will be there.
Got the marine electrician to install my down image, and standard transducer and they seem to work fine on the head unit although Ethernet from 70dv to 751xs. Frustrating experience so far as it's brand new boat with all the good gear. Cheers scott

    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

What did they find the problem to be?
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

    Re: Tm150 chirp transducer problem

Turned out that the unit was frying the transducer but the latest update has fixed it version 3.80 this update was only new as I was on version 3.70. I had already killed my second transducer so now the third should be sweet. I can not wait to see it working properly. Wayne or (kitty kat) got it fixed while it was being serviced at no cost to me at all
