    Fuel Proof Sealer

    Hi Guys

I am moving my fuel filler point a couple of centimeters and when I install it I want to add some sealer between the filler and the deck.

Normally I will use Sifaflex to seal this but unsure if ths will be ok around a fuel filler in case some petrol gets in there.

Will Sikaflex be ok or is there something better to use?

    Cheers

The sika should be fine in that use. I used to have a poly irrigation fitting sika'd into the top of an alloy fuel tank as a filler after the alloy cap was over tightened and the thread bound ( don't use a shifter to tighten your fuel cap.LOL). The sika was essentially in permanent contact with the fuel and while it did eventually break down, it took years to happen. I think I only re-sealed it once in 20 years.

"Sika Tank" is made for fuel tank sealing, but overkill for your job.

Stag Jointing Paste is another option and is what i have used where petrol is involved.

    Guys

Brings up another question looking at the Stag stuff - should you seal your fuel filler to your filler hose or is a hose clamp suffice?

I seal the breather hoses and the filler hose to the tank, and use two clamps on the filler hose to the tank. My filler to the filler hose is not sealed and just clamped. Basically, I seal everything below the deck/floor.
