    Volvo 300 KAMD questions

Gday, anyone have anything to say about these engine? Good, bad or ugly!
I have a friend looking at a family cruiser with a pair of them and wanted to hear any comments people may have. I know a couple of blackwatch 30's with them in and they seem to go well, very reliable although I hear volvo parts can be a little on the expensive side (similar to the yanmar's)
    Anyone with anything to say??
    Thanks

Great base engine, but the supercharger adds unwanted complexity, and in a lot of applications it can be a pain in the ass. If your mate intends to troll a lot or travel at displacement speed, just check what speed and rpm the boat does without the supercharger cutting in. If you run them just on the edge of that rpm, the damn thing can cut in and out as you surf down swells etc.
some folks have just disconnected them in the past, same as the new D series electronic engines that share the same supercharger and turbo set up.

    Cheers,
