It will work fine - it's just a bit harder because you will need to fabricate a bracket unless you can mount it to the side of the wetbox (not something I would recommend if the box is glass over ply) and also seal where the cable exits.

    Re: P66 thru hull

My old boat (glass) had the transducer shooting thur the hull, i just used some poly pipe and cut the pipe to the shape of the hull, then put the transducer in the pipe and put some stickerflex on each side to keep the transducer level (with the ground not the hull shape) and after it was dry and secure I glassed the poly pipe in place ( but you could stickerflex it) once it was dry and sealed i filled the pipe with auto trans fluid (olive oil will work as well) and capped the top of the pipe and sealed the cable hole.

The transducer I was using was a transom mount that had a broken bracket. seemed to work fine. the trick seems to be finding an undistrubed water flow section on the hull.

    Hey everyone.
I have still been toying with this, and came across the airmar p79 thru hull tranny.
Thr price off this at just over $200 looks better and easier than adapting the p66. Is the p79 equal in performance to the p66?

    A link to the info.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: P66 thru hull

It appears to have identical elements to the P66.

Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....
