    SPs- Scent or No Scent

I've been using exclusively Gulps and scented Z-Mans in the past and while I've had very good success on these (esp Gulps), I'm wondering whether the scent really does make a difference. What's been your experience with non-scented SPs especially when the fishing's a little slow? Does it depend on the species of fish you're after?

I've always thought the scent attracted them into the general area and then they would spot the SP visually and go for it. I'd reckon it depends on the target species. Flathead are lazy but if they see a pink thing fluttering around they'll hit it. On the other hand I've always thought of bream as schooling critters that are attracted to scent (or burley) then go nuts on anything.
    My 2 cents.

I think it helps. If they get a taste they will be more likely to have another bite

I think adding scent makes a difference especially if you handled fuel or sunscreen or anything else that might get onto you fingers before handling the plastic. Even if my hands are clean ( according to me which might be a different verdict according to fish) I actually give my hands a bit of juice before handling the plastic.

im still scratching my head? i thought only TV hosts used it,

i get plastics, i dont get spray ons or like all the squid glows etc, there is some guy sitting by a pool sucking a pino having a chuckle

And it seriously makes any argument about no stinky bait in my boat false as that stuff reeks to high heaven

Anyway if you use it and it works all the more power to you

I think some of the non-scented rubber stinks far worse than any fuel or sunscreen you might accidentally get onto the SP. Gulp seems to be more like bait than lure; I've seen small fish rip apart discarded leftovers like they would a piece of meat. Problem with Gulp is that I can easily go through 3-4 packs a day which can be an expensive habit. Scented Z-mans don't seem to work as well for me even though they last forever. I've tried a few non-scented ones years ago with very limited success but maybe just haven't found the right ones. There's certainly a lot more variety these days, any recommendations make/model?
