How much do people trust solunar bite times and does anyone have a source they like to use for them?
I reckon they are very hit and miss. I either use an app or my gps has one built in
They vary based on who publishes them, for moon phases, freshwater is as different to saltwater and estuary is different to offshore as well as different species in any of these environments differ. The only thing that does seem to be consistent is that when the moon is just rising or setting (minor bite times) and directly above or below (major bite times) I do notice a difference in fish biting although sometimes on a bad day the difference is pretty small and could easily be missed. Best philosophy is you have the time and the weather is good, GO FISHING.
They definately play a part but in conjunction with other variables.....tide, time, season, weather both at the time and leading up to the day....so many variables to rely on solunar tables alone.....
I did forget one item which is not in any almanac and that is that when the barometric pressure is rising, the fish tend to bite better than when the barometric pressure is falling, at least this is what I found for saltwater species.
Fish only bight twice a day.
Just before you get there and just after you leave.
Unless someone can show me a fish that has one of these "tables" and can read it, I call it all guess work, just like reading your stars in the paper.....
I did read about 20 years back in an almanac that lining up either moon rise or moon set with either a flood or ebb tide was supposed to produce the goods.
As yet, I have had very little luck with lining any of them up together so I gave up on that theory years ago.
I must admit that I am one of those people that just goes out for a fish whenever I have the chance and as much as possible. Today's session will be the 5th one this week!...yes I do appreciate how lucky I am with work commitments.
Sorry to all the purists out there but I seldom don't go out because the tide is "wrong"...I just need to be out there doing it, it's like a drug.
I guess the more you're out there, the higher the probability of getting onto a hot bite, unless you're doing it all wrong.
Get the chance, just go out I reckon, beats sitting at home anyway.

Im a big believer though in fishing a spot till you get an idea how it works and then will target that spot under those conditions.. the trick is to have as many spots sorta figured out so you can then fish at different times tides etc...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB_jmVg1Zok check this out ,Ive followed the fishing almanac up here for years and swear by it ,if it says its no good its dam right and ive tried everything to catch fish on a crap day in the almanac and yep i get nothing,but a grey to Black day or night is the go ,ofcourse if it says the feeding time is at 10am and the tide is roaring that's the time you don the 12oz of lead ,to get to the bottom.Thats what we need up here with monster springs.

It is interesting to watch my mates fish tank, there are times when the fish are really active and other times he can put food in, same time different day and they are very indifferent about it, in fact they are hard to spot as they tend to hide. Guess this happens out there in the wild as well.
