I am after opinions specifically about seakeeping/performance of Luhrs 31 Open (IPS) Tower from those who have fished them. How do you go in say a 1.5M head sea? What was the fuel economy like?

If not a member already, I would suggest you join The Hull Truth & let the search engine do some work for you. There are plenty of stories from Luhrs owners on THT.

Luhrs, DONT BUY ONE!! Biggest piece of junk on the water. The last thing I would be worried about is ride quality, I would be looking at built quality, or lack off. I have several mates that own these, biggest waste of money they have spent.

Yes, mostly in NSW however there was one I know of on the Gold Coast this is in my club that would have been cheaper to send to the scrap yard. Shark power, you a fan of Luhrs??
No Stuart actually I am a fan of yours.

Interesting, thanks guys. Anyone actually fished one for a length of time? Any owners chime in? I understand the early models had issues- how about 2008-2009 onwards? What are the issues with IPS out of warranty (or in warranty for that matter?).
I've spoken to actual owners (personal as well as game boat operators) and they had nothing but praise and good experience (and I am not speaking about people selling them) this is the first I have heard negative feedback of the late model stuff.
Maybe Luhrs is the new e-tec... Everyone knows someone who had one and it blew up/fell to pieces, but have never actually owned one themselves!
The flybridge ones can be buckets of the proverbial. I think Stu is thinking of a little 30-32'? I used to drive a 35' quite a bit and it was hopeless in a see but good on fish. The 36' with the integral stairs must be better. The 41's with the tumblehome transoms seem alright sea wise. The one 41' Express here has electrical issues that need resolving. As for pod drive motors, seals, seals and more seals. Around $20K to do the seals on on one IPS driven Riv here.
thanks for that. Anyone fished or owned an Open Tower 31 or 32?
