G'day guys, for those that are interested in another boat build read on, otherwise it's just another one..
its going to be a long drawn out thread with completion not expected until late September or early October.
Well here goes, from the start.
Looked around at a number of builders and spent a long time researching different boats and different boat builders. After seeing lots of great ideas from different builders the decision was made to go with Dave from Riptide. He was extremely approachable, had some great ideas and was competitively priced. After having a neighbour with a 6.2m riptide and seeing the quality and other build threads on Ausfish, I could see they were built to a high standard. I went and had a look at Luke's (Carry) boat and straight away thought yep, exactly the same as that..... Perfect!!!!!!
I then paid my deposit to secure my position in the line and started the long wait.
15th November 2012 deposit paid to Riptide after being told it was a 20 month wait. That wait was reduced to 18 months after a few months so that would make for a mid May start. Well, the boat started today so Dave wasn't far out with the estimate.
Dave is indicating a 3 month build time them 2 weeks for paint, and about a month between final build fit out and engine/wiring and electronics fit out. I am hoping to launch by early October.
At this stage I only have a pic of the alloy arriving yesterday for the hull which isn't too exciting but as it progresses it will get more exciting.
It has been a long wait so even seeing the metal arrive is exciting for me.
A few of the details
7.8m full cabin with glass front and sides
Twin 175hp Suzuki's
Riptide alloy trailer
Fully painted
I would like to thank Luke (Carry) before I even start for his help already and also Garry who I don't think is on Ausfish for the sharing with me of his build.
I will post more pics after next Tuesday when I go for a visit and start the bonding with my 3rd child.
Cheers
Lee
