First night out last night. Anchored in 10M just west of the YFA buoy in North Harbour and fished the lead up to the high tide from 4 to 730PN. Caught half dozen of these which I released, and a couple Tailor one which went about 3lbs. I used tuna flavoured pellets for burley and went through 400g of pilchards in cubes before I called it a night.
What sort of fish in the picture?
I fished with a SnapperSnatcher style paternoster rig off ebay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231203365...4.m1439.l2649y) with a sinker on a single rod. The one problem I had was that although I was anchored with a bridle the stern of the boat still swung around fair bit. If I casted the rig out, the line would alternately have a lot of slack in it or be dragging the sinker across the bottom. I ended up just fishing straight down off the stern with the sinker just touching the bottom.
yep silver trevally, fairly common further down south they fight just as well as their northern mates but don't grow to big sizes (unless your fishing lord howe island)
stevemid, as above, silver trevally, I am not sure why you would want a bridle but then again don't know your area. The rigs you are using are very simple to make, just look up youtube for mackerel jigs etc, I get all my sparkly bits from the local reject shops or spotlight, I find that there are plenty of hair extensions with nice sparkly colours or dustbrushes and I make the rigs up at a fraction of the price and also experiment with colours, different lumo beads etc.
