Hey grinner. I lived up there many years ago now but that shouldn't change one of my fav spots. The banks along the north shore section near the mouth of the Maroochy river is close and very accessible from Cotton tree by boat/canoe. We used to snorkel and fish there regularly and always came home with a decent feed. You can check it out on Gogle earth, the water is deeper on that side of the river as well. Not sure on the crabs, but I'd hazard a guess and say, the cold snap would have scared them off well and good
Hi Grinner, great part of the wold up there, caught a nice golden up there just before the cold.I agree with 4x4frog I like the north shore to but don't be afraid to go up stream. There was a recent post from over easter with some excellent fish being caught .Check it out .
yeah check out my easter fishing thread....all the fish caught from bli bli down to the mouth....heaps of tailor around if you fish late...get up early....there was a 1.2m jew caught by a mate off the cotton tree side of the mouth a week ago...we were catching whiting around the mouth up to 42cm....heaps of fish if you look hard enough![]()
Flathead should still be around and the flats around the bli bli channel markers are worth a look. You could also try the cod hole (under and east of the motorway bridge). If you want to travel a bit the gravel boat ramp on storey creek road bli bli will give you access to the upper reaches which will be a better spot to try for crabs and around the islands produces good flathead as well. Good luck
