Lowrance hdi fish finder vs dsi combo
Both of these unit are on sale at the moment. I have a 4.1m tinny, mainly fish estuary ie the pin/ pummicestone passage with occasional trips to peel/Harry's/mud. I currently use navionics on my iPhone.
Question is:
do I take the lower fishfinder for the gps, or continue to use my phone and buy the better (I'm assuming the hdi is better than the dsi) fish finder.

If you can afford it get the elite 7 hdi combo. Bcf have them on special with the navionics card included. That way you get both the chart and a good fishfinder
ive got to get rid of my display elite7HDI . $500 for those interested. for that matter i also have 1 humminbird 598si for $550
on the original point. whats your peramteres. budget?
the concept a combo is.. imo always better. yeah you don't need to run both at the same time but the ability too outweighs negatives. that and being able to set your waypoints intune with your sonar/fish finding is just plane groovy!
and yeah the HDI is better. a DSI model will give you 455/800 down imaging only. ok for finding structure etc.. the areas where fish will... be. not necessarily the fish themselves.
the HDI "hybrid dual imaging" transducer takes that DSI and the standard 83/200 broadband elements and puts them in one transducer.. the down imaging component on both the DSI and HDI is......ok.. not great.

yep. as a dealer who ever buys it will be technically the first owner. so warranty will begin then
