Smile An alternative transom mount for thru hull transducers !!

Hi all seems there a lot of posts goin on here re fitting 1kw transducers and thought I would
share a fit up of a (Thru Hull) transom mounted SS264W 1kw thru hull transducer.
As my cat is fibre glassed totally foam filled and floor is fully sealed I didn't fancy opening it up so I
decide to go custom and here is the results.

First off was to get a custom made transom bracket made from stainless to accommodate the ducer.
The bracket is 170 long by 150 wide and 100 high with side bracing to avoid any vibration and is made
out of 4mm plate I used a template out of cardboard to gather transom angles for fabricator.

Here is the bracket completed, polished and fitted with design to flow straight thru from hull with a slight tilt down
to the trailing edge to avoid any aeration. Also I sikaflexd the very small gap between hull and bracket to create a smooth flow!!

Hole diameter of 95mm accommodate the new transducer and soon fitted with sika
to bottom edge only to allow for removal if required which is handy if you sell ya boat
and want to keep the transducer.

Next was to unpack and fit the goodies.

Note only a good hand tight of nut here is all that's required.

Another angle of fitted product and you can see how there is constant flow of the hull thru the plated to give
great readings up 30knots no probs.
Hope this helps anyone who doesn't want to drill a big hole in there hull or have access to do so
this is a great alternative to the massive Standard Transom Mount 1kw transducer which is the size of a house brick
and made even better for plate boats to fit to.

    regards Frank

    Nice.

Peterbo did something similar on his plate boat - I think it was a B60 transducer to compliment his retractible mounted "house brick" TM260 transducer
