Heading to Rainbow Beach for a few days....
G'day,
Heading over to Rainbow Beach for a few days this Thursday with the missus. Staying in a cabin at Rainbow Waters over at Carlo Point, taking my 3.7m quinny (haven't told the boss that part yet....)
Was wondering if any one could share some pointers? Does any one know what should be biting?
Taking the yabby pump to try chase whiting, bream etc, soft plastics for flathead, crab pots for muddies - but is it worth considering taking heavier gear to chase pelagics in the channel between Fraser and Inskip (conditions permitting)? Or would I be wasting my time?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Hey Rex I was there a week ago and found some nice winter whiting in and around the yachts over towards Tin Can there are some yabbies across from the yachts near the green markers, I got a few sand crabs and one muddy in Teebar crk . There was also whiting from the red marker at Ida island (yabbies there to) right up to the green marker called Big Mick there were a few macs there as well have fun.

Hi Rexwatto I'll try and help you out. Firstly if your chasing a few Muddies i would try up the back at Bullock Point theirs a creek also try the flats just around the cnr of the old jetty, up reasonably close to the mangroves best left overnight.Only trouble is the theives. Don't put your Pots in the Main Channel in Pelican Bay. I"d also be trying for some Lizards in the same vicinity as the second crabbing spot. Should be a few Macks in the channel going out towards the bar. I"d be trolling with a couple of Halco Lures also try whole pillies just drifting in the channel 1hr either side of the tides. Mudcrab3 suggests chasing Tuna which should also be around but remember you need to throw the same size Slug as what their feeding on. Other than that your going to a place i call Paradise mate. Cheers enjoy the holiday and good luck.

Manta man that is absolute gold - thanks for your help. Will definitely lay a few crab traps and will have to buy some smaller slugs (only have 60gm and up). Really appreciate the help mate

Be very careful about leaving pots out overnight. if you do check them first thing in the morning. we had 4 new pots stolen between 8.30 and 11am one morning. Another fisherman saw them at 8.30 when he set his and went on his way then they were gone when he arrived back around the same time as us ( a little suspicious I know but it was a dad and his 2 boys so benefit of the doubt).
