Sat on 27 knots at 5000 revs everywhere we went unless it was too rough. From what figures I have read about 5.2 with 60's I think they would be too slow for me to tackle long distances with limited time. The 2400 opened up whole new areas for fishing with the larger tanks, better ride and 30 knot cruise speed.
My 5.2 didn't have spray deflectors when I bought it but I made some up and fitted them myself which fixed the problem, so I think it could be done for the 2400 as well.

I am looking at a 2400 with yammy 115 four strokes so I wondered if anyone would have some idea of fuel usage at cruise speeds. Also what the top speed would be with these motors.

Also does anyone know what the BMT weight of a KC 2400 with a galvanised trailer versus an ally trailer.

I have two plate aluminium spray deflectors bolted to the legs of my DF140's. They are cheap as chips to cut out and bolt on, just need a template from someone to cut them out. There is zero spray.
Some of the issues with the 2400 Perko mentioned sound more like maintenance issues than 2400 issues. I have fished many times on 5.2's and have owned a 2400 for 6 years. Apart from the obvious issues of price and needing at least a Landcruiser to tow the thing I find the pros far out weigh the cons for getting a 2400. The 2400 is a significantly better ride and drier boat.
Having said that a mate has a KC 2800, one size up from the 2400. Again the ride is significantly better than the 2400. Extra length, width and weight=better ride. One issue with the 2800 though is you are not going to easily trailer it anywhere.
I guess it boils down to what you can afford in the end.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the 2400. It's not perfect though. Mirage , which negatives that I mentioned would be caused by a maintence issue?

Does anyone know how much heavier the galv steel trailers for 2400 are than the ally trailers?
Also fuel tank size for 2400 ?

Cant comment on the trailer weight as mine was on an airberth, but tank size on my 2006 model was 225 litres per side.

Do the earlier models say from 2000 have the same size tanks?
