    Pine River & Clontarf 30/3

had a good morning yesterday chasing a few crabs and fishing some live prawns and herring.
My mate Aaron landed a very nice flatty on a herring, with just about every prawn or herring bait resulted in bream or whiting with some nice ones amongst them. Plenty of sandies along the rocks from the bridges to the ramp.
Check out Aarons attempt at tying the crabs
    cheers

Well done, did you get up into Hay's inlet or just fish the entrance?

split-shot i dont really go into hayes at all. You can see where the flatty was caught, also caught a stack of good bream there.
The mud crabs came from one of the nearby creeks. I was surprised to see so many fish in the creeks despite being so fresh.
I caught up with a local pro early in the morning, nearly half his pots had been slashed or stolen. You could see his floats tossed up into the trees, poor bastard.

    Nice feed Dean.
That fresh that came down must have disappeared pretty quick for the sandy's to be in that close.
Now we just have to find where the prawns are.

There was a young bloke throwing his cast net off the Pinkenba boat ramp around 10pm last night when I got back to the ramp. He was getting around half a dozen reasonable sized prawns with each cast. He pretty much had his bag limit and was getting ready to head home at that stage. There was also a prawn trawler working in front of the ramp at the same time, and this was getting towards the high tide mark.

I put 4 pots in my usual spot just outside the river mouth, and got 5 reasonable sand crabs and 1 really good mud crab. Could not find any snapper along the front wall, but plenty of bream and catfish to keep me entertained for a while.

    Cheers

    Jeff

Love to use Preditek or Kingfisher lures or Viva Lures when I am out fishing.
