Regardless of side height I would be running rails the lengths of the gunnels a) to prevent you falling out and b) so you can mount rod holders. It doesnt look to me like there is enough width in those gunnels for flush mounted rod holders.

obrien boats are going to start building a modified 19 mould as used by andrew mead in townsville. Check out the aussie barra charters facebook page.
I have a panga (ie longboat, 6.2 m dolphin flexihull) and I like the low sides as I do a bit of diving and snorkelling (I prefer to look at the fish rather than feed them) and I find the low sides an advantage at getting in and out of a boat - it is very difficult doing that in most other high side boats, need a ladder for them.
And if you do like to catch fish they are very easy to boat from the low sides, can easily lean over and place lip grippers on or gaff if you prefer.
That is a sensatioal looking boat I would definently look into that as a next boat!!! I love the low sides
Hi Nicko,
Have been extolling the virtues of my Tronqued Panga for some time now.
Made in the Philippines by Marco Tronqued. Imported mine nearly 5 years ago, and will have it to the end of my fishing days.
There are some pictures in the forum, mainly of the installation of a Tecni Ice ice box.
Have sent other photos and specs to members by email. One of the great things about dealing with Marco, is that it is not far to go to have a look at the build, he will make any modifications you require without complaint, You can do a sea trial before transportation (we went to Corregidor) and the Philippines is a great place to visit---even Manila.
Seems like you are serious about your boating and fishing, and if you desire something you will be happy with for a long time, this is the boat. No commission here, no sales pitch, no bull.

I'm on a contract with work, so my panga dream is on hold atm unfortunately. The best for price and handling seemed to be the imemsa hulls, floor installed in USA after dragged across the border and shipped here. same company that I posted about on here somewhere, good bloke from Houston, Richard Beck from memory?
buying an americanised panga (wider and heavier) apparently affects the performance and required horsepower a lot, so something like the imemsa are much better.
have u guys thought about building your own Run Riot long boat from the australian company Bowdidge Marine? http://bowdidgemarinedesigns.com/Bow...n_Riot_24.html
I give up on the panga idea.went for a bonito 5.8 being built now.
At least I can inspect the work at any time.deck going on this week.
