    In the process of building a downrigger. What size plastic coated stainless wire do I need to fish at 100m. KP

    Hi Nicko considered it but one nick (we get a few leather jackets from time to time) and you loose your weight. Just thought someone out there may be running wire. Cheers for the reply KP

    The commercially made ones come with 150lb nylon coated stainless steel cable.
    The leatherjackets are a problem at times, maybe you could use a metre or so of cable at the bomb and the rest 200lb braid. That way you have a bit of protection from the L.J's and the bottom, but also have the advantage of no hum and less blow back (resistance in the water) of the cable.
