I use Yamalube as I have a motor under warranty and run 100:1 mix. My father used Valvoline for 25 + years. No problems.
etec oil is made with black truffles. you would have to be crazy to burn it in anything you didn't have to, esp a normal 2 banger.
yes oils have colouring but it has to be a very well refined or synthetic based to be translucent. they dont add dirty carbon to make it look like the mineral oils of old.
yamalube looks to me to look like I just drained my car sump for a service

OK folks, Thanks for the feed back. In my opinion as they all meet or exceed the TCW-3 standard required, I didn't see an issue. Perhaps the exhaust may smoke a little less but from what have seen at the ramp, that does not seem to be the case. I smoke no more than anyone else. Maybe they are all running valvoline as well .......
I use the same oil after learning in the early 80s 30 yrs plus you know what i mean.Hilly
I use the Caltex stuff..as mentioned above it comes from the same vat as Yamalube (here in oz..not in the usa)....not saying yamalube is anything fantastic....actually none of them are (because they are all forced to be biodegradable).
My father for 16 years in the old seahorse 6hp (60s model) used everyday car engine oil....he only ever guessed the ratio...that engine never gave up and was flogged everywhere until sold. His 60s model McCullochchainsaw only ever saw oil from the same bottle and just kept on going too.

Each to their own but I admit I do use Shell Nautilus in my Merc, was recommended by my outboard mechanic.
Had no dramas with it and not excessively smokey, motor runs like a dream so I'll keep using it.
Cheers
Valvoline all the way for my 98 25hp Johnson anything else fouls the plugs and bellows out with smoke
