That's correct ,you can buy one for your region only, much cheaper. For the tablet thing I don't know, I run a wi fi module on the boat that talks to my I pad
you need to download the app first on your tablet

You buy the app and all the maps are free.
About 15 bucks for standard definition and 40 for high definition apps. It depends on what is right for your tablet, check website for compatibility.

I used to download/upgrade maps on the iphone for free but now it sends you to the $17.99 yearly subscription..

Try updating an existing area you already have. I just had a play with it and can still download new areas for free but when I try to update an area I have already it sends me to the subscription.

thanks guys got in downloaded to tablet I had to pay for the all of Australia app but it is a awesome programme and also love the fact that it shows up fishing spots that people have marked, is there a way I can use live navigation like when driving in a car say so when I leave the harbour I can follow a route still getting used to using it

Autorouting app is available in the upgrades and apps section in the menu for extra $$$, But it's pretty easy to just plot your own route at home first.

That's interesting Triple, on an android there doesn't seem to be an actual update button it just tells me from time to time there is an update available.
I'm not sure if that's an app update or a map update.

    Re: Navionics australia wide

Be careful if you buy a GPS or GPS sounder combo that comes with a Navionics Gold Card, it is a bundled card and can not be updated with the freshest data, which means the maps on the card can be outdated, I found this out when I purchased a new lowrance sounder last year, and after a lot of yelling at Navico and who assured me the card was up datable, and even more yelling at Navionics who assured me it was not up datable, Navionics worldwide head office stepped in and swapped my "bundled" card for a proper gold card.

Also the tablet Navionics app does not have "course up" feature, which can be a worry if you are trying to navigate unfamiliar waterways, traveling at night

I have found the maps from both the App and the Chartplotter using a gold card to be extremely accurate
