How windy is it? Here's a cool link where you can zoom in and out all over the globe. Click on a location and see the wind speed!

Shame it dont show wind strengths lol.
No wonder we are not our fishing. That should make some good swells for the surfers!
Thats really cool Wayno!!!!
dont knock on deaths door... ring the doorbell and run... death hates that!!
great site. I think the wind is around 40000 knots in SEQ judging by how quick it moves on the map! But great esp you can see the cyclone up there off fnq
Volvo and all
Hold and right click your cursor on a point of interest and it shows speed and direction. eg the NQ cyclone is moving towards 310 degees at 7 kn
It pays to be on a computer vs a tablet I think
Cheers
Chimo
What could go wrong.......................
Thanks, Wayno. That is such a cool link.
mmm the strongest wind I can get from the cyclone in NQ is 70km /hr, thought it was supposed to be higher or is it just my slow PC
I have had a play on this site for a coupe of weeks now and if any one else has figured it out can they share it please but can you enter a GPS coordinate then it would be a really cool tool
If you click on the earth rectangular button in the lower lefthand cornner it brings up a menu ,you can see current, cloud and wind at different levels and overlay.
Thanks Chris, already been there, just would like to input a GPS location, which I can't seem to do.
that is a really cool site. Will be using this one again.
Remember to always log on before heading offshore.
Just to let you guys who maybe don't know, in the Earth menu where you can select the pressure height to see the winds at, 250hpa is approx 36000' or approx the height most jet aircraft travel at. 1000hpa is only 200' above surface.
Its a real shame the currents and ocean temps arent shown very close to the coast line. The closest I can get a reading is about 30nm from the coast by the lat/long shown on the map.
