Garmin SideVu DownVu "and other things that go ping!"
updated my display units to demonstrate the forthcoming garmin DownVu and SideVu funciton
Ok so here's some things to muddle
if you have a 751 "or 557", and you fancy side and down vu. a module box "much like the LSS2" will be pluged unto the back where the 12 pin port is. and an extra transducer "like the lss2 transducer" will be mounted on the bottom
if you just want DOWN view. just a transducer into the back of the unit with the software update will be needed
On the echomap series. Downview can be added to existing units with the purchase of the downvu transducer and a free software update.
Or you will be able to purchase a echomap70Dv model with it all pre-loaded
There will also be echo DV models
other features of note the echomap 70s will now run the G2 vision cards
there is a scroll back feature
there is an onscreen sonar recording menu
things will get clearer and more polished im sure in the coming weeks
here are some videos for your enjoyment!

Re: Garmin SideVu DownVu "and other things that go ping!"
nobody will have them in stock for a little while they havnt been released yet.
i will have them shortly
HOWEVER!
the DV models will have a bit of a premium price on them over the regular Echo series . not sure what it will be
but the regular echo series will be able to be "converted" to a DV model by buying the dv transducer and do the software update "for free" and boom job done.
im "anticipating" there to be a 200 odd price difference between a DV model and jsut buying the transducer
