Brissy river muddies & snapped Pflueger Asaro

Went out the mouth of the Brissy river early this morning , launched from the fishermans island ramp at 330 & threw 8 pots out near the mangroves as you enter the river. Drifted the pinkenba wall until sunrise then got out my new 1-3 kg Pflueger Asaro combo to chuck some blades at the wall . Second cast & snap ! The rod snapped in two just above the join. Has anyone ever had this happened ? Did I just get a dud ? Anaconda swapped it when I pulled in on the way home. Hope the new one holds up. Pulled the pots in about 11 for 5 big Jennie's , 2 undersize bucks and a legal blue swimmer + a handful of undersize bream. Current was strong and pretty windy , good day though except for the rod snapping .

I had a bad run with an ABU rod ten or so year ago, snapped the original and 2 replacements within a few weeks of each other.

Strangely they all snapped at around the same place and all 3 were virtually a clean snap.

The 4 one is still going strong.
