    bay whiting

    has any one been out around the rous channel area lately fishing for whiting and how did you go

    Mate at work went out last week and barely managed half dozen, fished small ships and the rous.

    I went there on Wednesday,but it was lumpy as hell, and nothing was interested apart from a never-ending stream of undersize reefies. I wasn't in my tinnie, was a bigger boat, but slow coming back when the wind kicked up to 25 to 30 knots.

    However, I caught my first bay whiting just off Coochie. Just one. Let it go. Nothing else for about 8 hours fishing. Bugger of a wind.

    I went on Friday and Saturday last week. Bagged out both days.

    You need to find the school to get a decent feed. It's closer to the banks in 6 meters of water.
