    Inside of Moreton Sat morning

A great weather forecast Sat morning so I thought I'd duck over and fish the inside of Moreton. I usually leave from Whyte Isl but for a change I thought I'd give the ramp at Clontarf a go. I recon I'll be using it again too, not a bad ramp with 4 lanes, big car park, shaded cleaning table, a little closer to Tangas, and no Gatway tolls.

Left Clontarf as the sun was rising and two thirds of the way over I came across a small school of mac tuna. I had a few casts for 2 failed hook-ups before they buggered off. When I reached Tangas I quickly grabbed a few pike from under the jetty then headed to the weed bed just nth of the wrecks and picked up a couple of small squid. I planned on fishing Curtain but the place already looked like a car park so I kept going up to the drop off at Bulwer for the tide change.

Set 1 pike 10' under a balloon, another pike and a squid 1/2 way down. The only action was a 34.9cm squire on squid and the pike under the balloon went off without hooking up. Cut my losses about 9.30 and headed back to the weed bed bed salvaged the trip with a couple of good feeds of squid (+ a few the perfect bait size for my next snapper trip). I'd read about trolling barra spoons on parrvanes here on Ausfish so I gave that a go too, just ended up with a tangled mess. Need to get that sorted before next trip as it sounds like a great technique.

Also managed to drop a rod over the side but dived straight in and grabbed it before it sank too far. Luckily when I climbed back in I still had my car keys in the pocket and my $400 prescription sunnies hanging from 1 ear.

Coming back around low I noticed a 2 exposed rocky outcrops on the southern corner of the Scott's Pt reef, I must have gone pretty close to these on the way over. Anyway I marked them for future reference. Can any tell me are they in or outside the Scott's Pt Green Zone?
    Cheers

they would definitely be inside the green zone if they were exposed Mike
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.

Inside green zone. I never run through the green zone for that 1 reason. I always just run the edge of the yellow bouys.

Yeh Andy, I've fished in boats for over 40 years and never seen a rod go over the side..........then we loose 3 in 2 months. My excuse this time was my hands were covered in slime and ink while I had a squid beside the boat on one rod while trying to hook 1 of his mates with the other rod. Bit hard to blame Duckboy for that. You know I was back at Borumba 3 weeks after he lost his rod and managed to snag and pull up his line in 50' of water. The rod was stuck under a tree or something so I couldn't get that back, just kept pulling line off the drag till it was at the end. I did get his lucky 10 year old Jackall back though. We had a small presentation ceremony at work for him lol.

Bermo you should take the inlaw's boat over to the weed beds and get some squid yourself mate, but then it could be too shallow for the 50 footer, and the ink wouldn't be too good for the cashmere seat cushions either would it. I think you better come with me mate, I want go over again just after Xmas if the weather suits.
