    Sea Surface Temperature Sensor

Hi all, after a little information/suggestions if possible.

In the boat I have a Furuno 585 with a 1kw M260 transducer (in hull), I also have a Garmin GPS map750 Chartplotter and a NMEA 2000 backbone set up.

Can someone recommend to me a cost effective way of getting sea surface temperature displayed on either the 585 or the Garmin plotter? I assumed that Garmin would have a simple probe that could be hooked up to the nmea backbone like lowrance have, (about $160.00) but that does not seem to be the case, at least I can't find it.

I also have a P66 triducer for the furuno in the garage.

Will not spend $300.00 or so just for temp, any ideas?

    Thanks

    Bill

My TM260 supplies temp to my 585. You need to configure the temp box to appear on your 585 screen. The manual is in the boat so I cannot reference a page but it is a little tricky from memory.
Or do you have a "shoot through the hull" setup? M260 still should read the hull temp.
    ROLL TIDE, ROLL.................

    Regards,
    Peter

Pete, the m260 is a "shoot through" in hull transducer.

just buy the temp sensor/water speed paddle wheel and mount to transom, the you need the splitter cable so you can run the m260 and temp sensor and you also get stw swell
then configure the furuno to display it. i have this exact setup but with a 587
