mods- is this legit? mailviewer download

I logged on at work to find I had a P.M. notice. their net nanny didn't allow me access. I checked my message box and there were no new listings.
at home I cilcked on the notice and was directed to a site that wanted me to download mailviewer.com software.
seemed dodgey to me without a notice from headquarters about it.
is it a legit deal?

I did a little digging and found it is a popup ad of some sort. I'm leery of those kinds of things.
