Need help making a sale profit decision.

Hey guys need advice on boat choices.

I have my little estuaries boat. Cruise craft rogue 14. Fully rebuilt without timber. Composite epoxy laminates etc. full electronic rewire, stereo, chartplotter, new windscreen, dual fuel tanks, Hyd steering etc etc. but I left the original gelcoat in tack because of the rough nature of chasing mud crabs in the mangroves. It's paired with a 2010 60hp Yamaha 4st. (1700hrs. Yes that's right.) it's been a great package for 12 months. I've put 120hrs on it. Uses 5L/hr at 32knots WOT.

Now I have a second boat available for rebuild that needs a similar rebuild. Floors, transom, fit-out, trailer etc. vickers easyrider 156 runabout. 1984ish. Paid $32 for it with a 1980 evinrude 70hp. Now the engine has been fixed up for resale. New trim and tilt assembly, service etc running well on the stand. I think the easyrider will be a better riding hull that will handle the sloppy harbour conditions I have in Gladstone better. The rogue seems to sit a little bow heavy with two adults in the front. Great for flat estuary systems. But out in the harbour it pushes the water out in front.

So my query is. Do I sell my rogue 14 as a package deal with the Yamaha 60hp. And if so how much?
Using the sale profit to buy a new 70/90hp outboard for the easyrider.

Or do I swap the motors and put the cheap rebuilt 70hp and sell as a cheaper package relying on the hull rebuild to help the sale price? Keeping the Yamaha 60 for my easyrider rebuild.

The plan with the easyrider is a full overhaul to a showroom new boat standard. Transom floors interior. With a two pack respray. Windscreen canopy removable ski-pole the works. Fabricate an aluminium trailer. It will be a boat I never sell. With a budget of $10k including motor.

Right o guys fire away. If you are interested in more photos etc just ask I have a few of each boat.

Don't think there will be a dramatic difference between the Rogue or the Easyrider, they are both similar vintage, keep the one that has the Yamaha on it and sell the rest for what you can get for it.

I have to agree with Noel, sell the new one. If you want a better boat sell both and upgrade.

Thanks for the input guys. But I will elaborate into my reasons for the easyrider handling better.

The rogue is 1976. Heavily flared bow sections. The waterline width at the seating positions is very narrow only 900mm approx. not a lot of volume supporting the 200kg seated there.

Easyrider 1984 approx. more pointed bow with fuller waterline sections. No flare. Transom to windscreen dimensions within 50mm between both boats. But the nose section is much longer on the easyrider. Basically the extra 400mm is all nose.

If you can think of a newer fibreglass boat that fits the size range and rides well in a chop can you give examples. Not ruling this out as a option. Just want to keep with fibreglass. 14-16ft. Open runabout style.

I reckon for a 16 ft fiberglass runabout it would be hard to beat one of the older seafarer Vsea's... They punch well above there weight.

Problem is finding a good one now they want too much for them if they are in good nick

Try looking for a HH 445. Great hull for the conditions you mention.
