Replacing trailer rollers
Hi All,
After a bit of advice pls. The nuts and bolts holding the brackets that the rollers are mounted on are pretty rusted.
I'd like to replace all the nuts & bolts as well as the rollers. Other than that the trailer is in very good nick.
I was planning on changing one bracket, roller with nut & bolt at a time so that I could get the right height to the hull.
Am I better off doing this with the boat off the trailer and measuring the current distances? It's a 535 Leisure craft and wouldn't really know what to do with it if I took it off the trailer.
Didn't want to hijack the other thread so started another.
How have you done it in the past?
Cheers

Re: Replacing trailer rollers
Boat off the trailer onto some grass, if you only have concrete then put some tyres down to protect it.

Re: Replacing trailer rollers
If you have a local quiet ramp, you may be able to drop the boat off and then do all your replacements at home. This is what I did when I rebuilt my trailer and had to swop over the wheel/axle/suspension section from the old trailer to the new trailer. I just launched it at the ramp and left my 15yo to mind the boat till I returned. Then did a few relaunches after adjusting the rollers. If you are already at the ramp it is a lot easier to make your adjustments without the boat on, so see what you need to adjust, launch and then adjust. Put back on and check and launch and further adjust if needed.

Re: Replacing trailer rollers
Maybe run a stringline down the keel rollers as a starting point...then adjust side rollers as seen fit.
Chimo has a lot more info regarding how the weight distribution should work....and from what I have seen of his posts...is DEF worth listening to...
Cheers, Ray
