Like Cooper tyres - 80,000km wear (not puncture) warranty, but only if you get a Cooper certified tyre centre to do a 4 wheel balance and alignment every 10,000km at $88 a go and you only get a pro rata discount on your next set of tyres. Works out cheaper to replace any tyres that don't make it. It's a scam and dodgy business practice
Comes VERY close to breaching 'third line blocking' laws, but gets away with it because it is a 'voluntary' warranty.

The reality is, under the Australian Consumer Laws, the warranty is valid for the acceptable lifespan of the product - not the 12 or 24 month crap that the resellers and manufacturers try to BS you with. You just need to know your rights, read the legislation and use the relevant government bodies (Dept of Fair Trade, ACCC, etc) to enforce the ACL's if the reseller/manufacturer/distributor will not come to the party. I have had plenty of success with Samsung, Nissan, HobbyKing, Subaru, Suzuki, Athletes Fitness, etc - some cough up easily, others need the government departments to kick their arse.

With correct maintenance by a qualified mechanic and normal usage of your outboard of say 50-100hrs a year; the 'acceptable lifespan' would be a lot more than 2 years.

    hey morphias
i totally agree with your c...pers tyres rant and that is so true. ive been on the receiving end of there bull.... warranty conditions and there pro rata on the failure of nearly new tires. what a waste of good money buying them.
Good luck to anyone who buys a name brand outboard who believes they have to be held ransom on there services for four years, either you don't have any faith in the brand you have chosen or you are just gullible and do as they tell you????
if the repairer is trade qualified/experienced and insured and using genuine parts with evidence, in the event of a claim how could they make that stand in court?? and the funny thing is generally the repairer has previously worked for a dealership representing that brand and at that time he was well regarded so why is it different now???
it appears to be consumer bullying at it best.
    cheers cr
