its begun!!! o-O
raymarine have had this for awhile. While the units costs 1.5K upwards, it does wifi transmit to your phone with the raymarine app. I think I'd prefer my 7inch touch screen with the option of wifi.
in a few years you'll be able to buy super cheap waterproof tablets with huge screen sizes and wifi to your transducer and just pay navionics their $15 a year for gps functionality.
Wont be beholden to companies charging big bucks to use their proprietry MFD's or combo units.
I downloaded the app & gave it a run, very cool.
Here's a couple of screenshots & camera shots along with navionics HD running on a nexus 7.
I have it on my Raymarine C127, can also control my gps/sounder from my phone or ipad as well via the rayremote app
Adrian
But can you do it without the sounder head unit Adrian?
That's the whole point, if you have a tablet then all you need is a transducer at USD $140 by memory.
Same with Navionics at about $40.
The hunt is on for the cheapest wifi gps 10" android tablet.
Garmin and lowrance have the capabilities as well, Garmin free, lowrance a couple of hundred to get the same kind of features.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...lowrancegofree
Might be kinda fun, playing with some of the Blowflies, devices remotely...

Honda.
You're an evil nerd Honda!
i really urge all people considering it to see if the lag of wifi is ok. if you can put up with it.. cool go for it.
What is the lag time...a second? I don't know

My house runs on wifi and it seems fast enough, get onboard Moose and import some samples.
I found a 10" gps android tablet for ~$150 delivered.
Looks like the whole deal could be done for around $350, not bad for a 10" GPS plotter/depth sounder.
