Remember Loders Creek / Broadwater / Southport Waterfront Caravan Park?

That's good as it looks like its waterfront nature is about to change http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/...oast-news.html

Progress has different faces it seems.

    true
but with a new 4 lane ramp with pontoons and more parking just up the road i think its worth it

also the fishing club gets a new clubhouse after they knocked down the old one to revamp the pool for the comm games

not sure you could even call it a caravan park anymore

seems like there are more and more cabins going in there and less room for caravans/campers

    cheers

Not much protection for that ramp when the wind gets up.

Your correct about the lack of protection from winds at the proposed ramp site.

Maybe a proposal to surround the ramps and pontoons with some enclosing breakwaters as they have done around the ramps on the lower reaches of the Tweed River should be suggested to Cr Dawn Critchlow who in the past has been known to be a very practical young lady in my experience.

Don't worry, Tate's cruise ships will block the wind for you..

"Plans for the third stage of the Broadwater were shrouded in secrecy during the tender process."

Probably doing a 4 lane ramp there cause the sea world side ramp will be closed and redeveloped into a casino..

    Scotty

Only limited space in the creek and for parking. And if Triple's correct the number of ramps will not increase much so there will still be a battle to launch and retrieve on busy windy days even though the number of boats around the GC continues to climb.

I doubt the cruise ships will provide much of a windbreak if they end up in the broadwater as
1 they will be too far away
2 they wont be here long enough

Mind you if the terminal was built outside ie in the ocean
    1 no dredging cost
    2 no disruption to seaway
    3 no loss of habitat
4 seagrass gets a chance to grow especially with the better moorings
5 whiting squid and larger uneatable species (dugongs) will increase

Funny you should say that. I contacted the new broadwater management mob and specified an area that badly needed a dredge out and blow me down they did it. Maybe something is are going to happen around the GC with Garry Bailden and co in action.

I won't hold my breath but it would be nice to see some sort of action going on around the place.

So it won't work, too much sand drift. Makes sense if you think about it. Build it off shore near the airport and give the southern Gold Coast some business!
