Thanks for the post mate .
Shawn
I left it late to get organized, was still sorting out the car after lunch on Friday because it went back into the workshop with radiator water coming from 3 different places. It was in for a new timing chain, water pump, and Friday after picking her up Thursday I was still getting things sorted simply because I CHECK work whenever I get the car back from something major like a timing chain replacement. Finally all done, headache and major engine overheating avoided, if my doctor would have writted out a prescription it would have said "go fishing"
I called my 1st off a crew list late Friday, and to my surprise got a text an hour later "I'm in" for a fish Sat morning. What followed was not really worthy of a post, but in the spirit of recent threads about why people do or don't post anymore, I thought I may as well put something up. And no, I don't have a photo of the fish we caught, which, up till lunch time was only small squire and grinners. The finish line was fast approaching, I was getting more and more desperate to put something in the esky, trying different plastics, then change over to fresh prawns with pea sinker, back to plastics..... I vowed not to buy any more plastics a couple of months ago until I use up what I have. 15 Years of accumulated plastics all sorts and I will probably go for another 15 years. Try this one, try that one, I found one only squidgy curly tail pumpkin seed fish thingo ( can't remember the name) and thought it would be a good match for the colour jighead I had on. I thread it on - sometimes you put a plastic on and it goes on perfectly, point of the hook is perfectly centered and I remember thinking I could not present this plastic any better than what I was about to cast out. It was not more than 5 seconds after splash down and away she went. The 4000F Ci4 straddic drag was set light, so the 58cm Snapper played out one of the best sounds I know. I wish I recorded it so I can set my iphone alarm tone to that singing drag, I'll never hit the snooze button ever again! Used 20.5 litres of fuel staying local around peel/ goat and Maclay island, it was a good day out with a mate. Better than going offshore with possibly only slightly better results, or from what I heard on ch 21 there were a few donuts caught out there.
Tight lines!

Thanks for the report M8, it was an interesting read. I would be a little concerned about your mechanic though.
Good to hear you back Brian
