Rosco, wouldn't be surprised if they just "towed" pots away and rename tagged them and changed float, then reset

Much better then I did, I only ask because I only got 3 in about 5-7m at the sandhills over night in 4 pots. The pots had about 20 jennies with eggsI did manage a nice feed of calamari though so that made up for it!

    Enjoy your feed!

Bermo, just wondering, did you catch the squid while whiting fishing or do you go bit further north than the sandhills to the weedbanks
I used to get mine in the rouse channel, but cant find them now, and never had any follow my whiting at the sandhills so never tried much there for them

I put 4 pots out at lunch time today at my usual spot. Got nothing in them after 2 hours, so took a chance and left them there. Figured the strong wind would keep most people away. Went back at 10pm tonight to collect the pots, and got 8 really good sand crabs out of them. No jennies and only 2 undersized male crabs in the pots. Every pot full of jellyfish, made for fun pulling them up. Now I would have stayed slightly drier if I had just jumped into the water at the bottom of the ramp, but only just.

    cheers

    Robsue,

We got them at night, we were in about 5m anchored out from the mangrove lined bank between the big and small sandhills.

We were staying on a bigger boat so we were actually just enjoying a cheeky red (or three) and jigged up a couple squid after we put out a small burley of left over fish guts etc from previous catches and had a light on in the water. The bait fish came up and the squid followed. There was about 10-15 squid smashing the bait fish and we landed 4 nice ones and then they got wise!!! I lost interest after that!

I also got 3 nice ones inside green over a random weed patch when fishing for whiting in August. They kept chasing the whiting.

    Hope this helps

    Bermo
