Did a gentlemans hours crabbing trip this morning.
On the water at Cleveland just on 7am with my son Brendan as deckie and chief pot-lifter. We headed to our spot and dropped 8 pots baited with whiting frames from Sandhills trip a while ago.
Let them soak for an hour and then lifted them, got 18 nice bucks, all hard and full crabs. No jennies, and only a few unders.
Soaked for another hour then picked them up and headed home. 28 quality crabs all up from 2 lifts. Gotta be happy with that!

Much better then I did, I only ask because I only got 3 in about 5-7m at the sandhills over night in 4 pots. The pots had about 20 jennies with eggs.
I did manage a nice feed of calamari though so that made up for it!

Were in 5-6m of water, just on the edge of a bank.
We had one pot come up with 7 crabs in it, of which 5 were quality keepers.
Just had a feed for lunch on fresh "tiger" rolls. Sweet! Family coming over tonight to help me dispose of some, looking forward to that!
The chat on Ch 21 was that fish werent biting offshore. Mate just called to say conditions off the SPB were ordinary and fish scarce, they brought home one nice parrot, that was it.

I have a special delivery of some newly designed mackerel spoons on their way, and ive dusted off the old Yamashita paravane, and i will be out chasing some of those macks he is always catching before too long. I spoke to the designer this morning and he bagged out again this morning off Burnett Heads, while others nearby got zip.
Game on!

great effort ML. my last couple trips here have been like that too, nearly all legal males bugger all jennies,,, strange but not complaining!!
Dad reckons fishing is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck.

Hey ML, awesome for a couple of hours work. By "crabs" you're referring to muddies? When's the season? Hear most people say months ending with R but yesterday met someone who swear it's month ending with Y?? Spoken with a number of people past month or so and they tell me they've not been catching much except swimmers so you must be doing something right.

sure is plenty of sandies around but the last 2 weeks the sharefarmers (#######s)are just as thick,last weekend we had 4 checked for us out of 8 pots with 1 being slashed ...this weekend dropped 10 pots out went back today for all bar 2 being raided and 2 pots gone...got me buggered how the #######s fitted these 2 pots in there boat as they where my bigger pots 1.25mtrs round..i can only fit 2 set up at a time in the cat ...still managed 23 sandies and a rock crab....moonlighter ya missed the best weekend for the macks..this weekend with the slack tidal run they where on thick...I didn't go but a couple of mates went yesterday got 20 schoolies in just over an hr
Don't worry plenty jennys about. Crabbed bottom of bribie then over Moreton for 7 keepers 6 throw backs and about 20 jennys. Three absolutely chock a block full of eggs. I was only running four pots whilst fishing friends at Tangas.

Anytime from now thru to May should see sandies around in the Bay, just have to find where they are and keep an eye on your pots.
Rosco, the bloody share farmers are a disgrace. Today i kept within eyesight of my pots at all times, and nobody went anywhere near them fortunately for them otherwise they'd have had a Surtees bow up their ar$3 and would have been at real risk of meeting the nice little hardwood priest that i keep on board. Plus i have a GoPro copy set up on board .......
We will have to compare spoons once i get these you-beaut ones and test them out!

Grant, that a good catch. I had 4 pots out and only managed 2 crabs. The other 3 pots were empty included no bait in the bait bags. Must be some very clever crabs out there, next time ill keep them within sight.
